The Indiana Society of Chicago was founded in 1905 by John T. McCutcheon and George Ade as a social organization for Chicagoans transplanted from Indiana. The society placed an early emphasis on literature and the arts, but soon branched out to sponsor educational programs, and hold monthly meetings and social events.
